A Summer Camp full of LEGO!!!

Solve Real Community Challenges with Robotics

A summer camp focused on solving real community problems through project-based learning, critical thinking and open-ended challenges using LEGO® Education products.

2022 Robotics Camp Highlights!

Check out this video with highlights from robotics camp 2022!

Just want a LEGO camp with no Coding?  We got it!  Join LEGO Master Corey (of the hit TV show LEGO Masters) in July.  Check out Corey's camps on the Classes for Kids page.

Camp Details

Camp 2023 revolved around renewable energy and other current events.

Who Should Attend

Rising 5th-8th graders who are interested in finding creative solutions to current events. All skill levels welcome, and first timers are especially encouraged! This camp is designed for independent thinking and creativity.  The use of coding and robots is the tool used to bring those skills out in a fun and engaging way.

Camp Takes Place Monday through Fridays (except where noted)

Camp 2023 took place at American Jiu Jitsu of Maplewood

The camp is utilized best as the two week program, but we understand some campers can only attend for a week.  That's ok, as we work and challenge each camper to their own ability levels.

Two Week Sessions Will Cover

Week One: Coding and basic robot building

Week Two: Applying what the camper has learned to complete challenges and missions

Campers may be given projects to work on between camp days, but they are NOT required)

If campers attend more than two weeks, they will be taught new skills and given new challenges.

Session Weeks and Costs

Come back in 2024!

What Mission MapSO Provides

Mission MapSO supplies the robot and kits and students may be working in pairs or small groups.  Campers can bring their own water in a closed container.  NO snacks are provided

What Campers Provide

Campers will need a device with the downloaded SPIKE™ Prime app to complete the coding projects.  More details on what is needed is below and you will receive more information on what to have in their camp 'backpack’ prior to the start.  If you already have the app prior to 2023, you will need to download the brand new version.

  • LEGO® Education SPIKE Prime Set (provided by the camp)
  • LEGO® Education SPIKE(™) App
  • System Requirements for use of LEGO Education SPIKE Prime

General Breakdown of a two week camp

Campers will be challenged based on their experience and interest

  • Campers will learn the basics of their LEGO® Education SPIKE(™) Prime sets.
  • Campers will build a basic robot model using the materials in their sets and the app.
  • Campers will use the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime App to create unique codes for their robots to follow (coding is based on Scratch, a language many kids have learned in school.  The robot set also allows for coding in micro-Python).
  • Campers will complete mini challenges throughout the week to solidify and practice what they’ve learned.

  • Campers will be given challenges that focus on current community events.
  • The campers will create a solution from a list of specific requirements that will include the skills they learned in the first week, plus bring the campers own personality and interests into the project
  • The campers will test their solution and make needed innovations and improvements.
  • The campers will share their creations with other campers and parents will be welcomed on the final day.
